  2.                Using Notework With Terminal Emulation Programs

  4. Notework will operate with most terminal emulation products that run in
  5. the "background."  If your terminal emulator maintains a connection to
  6. the host in the foreground, the connection may be lost when Notework is
  7. popped-up, because Notework takes full control of the workstation.

  9. If you are experiencing difficulty with Notework and your emulation, try
  10. changing the order in which Notework and the emulator is loaded.

  12. You may use also use Notework inside of your 3270 IBM Terminal Emulation
  13. program, but Notework must be loaded into memory BEFORE you load the
  14. emulation program.

  16. ===== NOVELL'S SNA GATEWAY =====
  17. Novell's SNA Gateway IS 3270 Emulation and functions like that described
  18. above.  Users can place the VL=ON parameter in the <username>.NWC file to
  19. get a graphic notification.  They need the version of the emulator which
  20. supports multiple simultaneous sessions.  (The cheap version doesn't).  And
  21. they need to configure to keep a least one DOS session open.  Even then,
  22. they will have to use the Session Switch hot-key to get to the DOS
  23. session emulation mode.  (Again, an SNA user is not running a PC, they are
  24. running a 3270 terminal that looks like  PC.)  Also they need to load the
  25. Emulator  before Notework or popping up will likely break their Mainframe
  26. connection.

  28. ===== IRMA 3270 EMULATION BOARDS =====
  29. Notework works fine in conjunction with IRMA 3270 emulation boards.  If
  30. you use DCA's E78 software, however, then you will find that Notework is
  31. dormant whenever 3270 emulation is active.  This is because E78 converts
  32. your PC into an entirely dumb 3270 terminal while the session is running.
  33. You can overcome this problem by upgrading to IRMAX Multisession software
  34. from DCA.  This will allow you to maintain a DOS session while in your
  35. 3270 session.
